Petland protesters talk to the owners of Petland!

Last Saturday Ilene talked to the owner of East Liberty’s new Petland. She said that their dogs come from reputable breeders, however she also revealed that they are brokered through the Hunte Corp, which everyone knows is associated with puppy mills. Ilene thinks that it’s possible that the owner is ignorant of where her puppies are coming from.

There are many websites citing the sins of the Hunte Corp - if you need a starting point, try http://www.petstorecruelty.org, where a list of USDA violations by this broker is shown. Here are a few examples of Hunte’s breach of cage size, as documented in a USDA inspection report:
